Manual Winding Watch - Winding Instructions

To ensure your manual winding watch operates smoothly and accurately, please follow these instructions:

Step 1: Check the Crown Position

Locate the Crown: The crown is the small knob on the side of the watch, usually at the 3 o'clock position.

Ensure it's Fully In: Make sure the crown is pushed fully in against the watch case. This is the "winding position."

Step 2: Gently Wind the Crown

Rotation Direction: Turn the crown clockwise (away from you, towards the 12 o'clock position).

Smooth and Steady: Wind the crown smoothly and gently. Do not force it.

Feel the Resistance: You will feel increasing resistance as the mainspring becomes fully wound.

Step 3: Stop When Fully Wound

Avoid Overwinding: Stop winding when you feel significant resistance. Overwinding can damage the watch's mechanism.

Typical Winds: The number of winds required varies by watch, but generally, it's between 15-30 full rotations.

Step 4: Setting the Time (If Needed)

Pull the Crown: Gently pull the crown out one or two clicks

Rotate to Set: Turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise to set the correct time.

Push In to Finish: Once the time is set, push the crown fully back in against the case.

Important Notes:

Daily Winding: For optimal performance, wind your watch at approximately the same time each day.

Avoid Winding While Wearing: It's best to remove the watch from your wrist before winding to avoid putting undue stress on the crown stem.

Never Force the Crown: If you encounter excessive resistance, stop winding. Forcing the crown can damage the internal components.

Storage: When not wearing your watch, it's best to store it in a safe, dry place.

Service: Manual winding watches require periodic servicing by a qualified watchmaker to ensure their longevity.

 

 

Quartz Watch - Setting Instructions

Thank you for your purchase! Quartz watches are known for their accuracy and ease of use. Please follow these instructions to set your new watch:

Step 1: Locate the Crown

The crown is the small knob on the side of the watch, typically at the 3 o'clock position.

Step 2: Pull the Crown to the Time-Setting Position

Gently pull the crown out. You'll usually feel one or two distinct clicks.

One Click: This is usually the time-setting position.

Two Clicks: Some watches have a date-setting position (first click) and then the time setting position (second click). If your watch has a date function, pull the crown to the first click to set the date. After setting the date push the crown back in. Then pull the crown out to the second click to set the time.

Step 3: Set the Time

Rotate the crown clockwise or counterclockwise to set the correct time.

If your watch has a date function make sure that the time is rotated past 12 o’clock to advance the date so that you know if you are setting the time for AM or PM.

Step 4: Push the Crown Back In

Once the time (and date, if applicable) is set, push the crown fully back into its original position against the watch case.

Important Notes:

Battery Life: Quartz watches are powered by batteries. Battery life varies, but typically lasts from 1 to 5 years.

Battery Replacement: When the watch starts to lose time or the second hand jumps in intervals (e.g., every two seconds), it's time for a battery replacement. It is recommended to have this done by a qualified watchmaker.

Water Resistance: If your watch is water-resistant, ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain its water resistance.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose your quartz watch to extreme temperatures or strong magnetic fields, as this can affect its accuracy.

Cleaning: Clean your watch with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
